Traveling to California

We were able to go out to Southern California last week. We usually drive out in one day but the last couple of times have taken 2 days traveling their and back. The kids are all wonderful travelers since they have all been doing it for years. Our first stop at a gas station we had to laugh. It was an older town and no one seemed to be there. When we stopped the kids ran to this stage coach. David then picked up the payphone asking what it was. Can we really be that old that kids do not know what a pay phone is? Haley isn't in the pictures because she stayed home with my parents this trip. We missed her but hoping that she'll be with us next trip to Cali.

We stopped in St. George after the first day and stayed the night. I love it there and would LOVE to move there. Unfortunately it isn't in the cards for us right now. After a short drive to Vegas we stopped and had to hit the Coca Cola store. We found a great little chalk board for the kitchen and it was the perfect piece to finish off the decorating. While dad went to the car to put our bags away the kids did the infamous wall sit against the coke wall. We were also able to find coconut M&M's at the M&M store. Even though not all the packages made it through the 115 degree heat. Our next stop was Hard Rock Cafe which is probably one of the best ones I've been in. They had great Elvis memorabilia which is probably why I like it so much. The kids loved the statues of KIZZ and the giant guitar out front.

On this trip my blackberry finally took it's final fall. Even though our phones do not work in Ojai it was awful for me. We did go get a phone in Ventura one day but it wasn't user friendly or you could say the user didn't like it. So it went back when we got home the phone went back.
Not only did the phone go to sleep but here are the kids after a good lunch and hoping to make the trip go faster. To me it looks like Reid got the wrong end of the deal.

With all the crazy positions they managed to keep their seat belts on.

This trip we had about 400 pictures so I'll have to pick and choose and put vacation on a couple different post. Because even I don't want to post all the pictures!

  1. Sounds like a fun trip (except for the phone). Did you guys see Melanie while you were out there? =) Can't wait to see the other pictures.

ROAD TRIP July 2009

Halloween 2009

Found an old picture of the kids in 2003. Thought it would be a fun way to see how much they've grown. Pretty soon I'll be lucky if they'll take a picture for me! 3 out of 5 pumpkins made it to the porch! David carved way too much and it sort of fell apart. (why it is on his head) Haley tripped on the front porch and the pumpkin flew to its end. While comforting Haley something happened to Reid's pumpkin and it ended up in 2 peices. We're just happy we got to carve pumpkins this year!
