Weekends in September

We started off September with traveling to South Dakota for Labor day weekend.. Grandma Tam and Trenton came with us. We were able to see a beautiful part of the country and the weather was great! Even though I was so sick and wasn't much fun it was a good time.
We watched the sunset and watched an incredible tribute to the US and to the making of Mt. Rushmore. At the end of the show they asked all current and former military to come down on the stage. Mike didn't want to go but with a few of us encouraging him he went down with the other service men and women. Right out of HS he joined the Marines and served for over six years.
We were able to go to Bear Country USA. They warn you to keep your windows up and do not get out of your car. It was so much fun and there were a lot more then just bears. The older kids didn't think this was going to be fun. But they had just as much fun as the rest of us.
There were so many bears this was definitely a highlight of the trip. It is something you should totally put on your agenda if you make it to South Dakota. www.bearcountryusa.com
Crazy Horse was also on the list of things to do. This is definitely bigger then Mt. Rushmore and has been years in the making. I didn't see a lot of progress since last time we were there back in 2004 but after looking at the museum and pictures realized I just didn't have an eye for the changing mountain. www.go2crazyhorse.com On September 11 five of us were lucky enough to enjoy the Air Force vs. BYU game. It seems that most of our family and friends were routing for BYU and my nieces roommate was even cheering for them. But we were routing for AF all the way. Plus we got lucky enough to enjoy the game more then most because AF won!

There were some great tributes to victims of 9-11 and a HUGE American flag was brought out by the military. It was beautiful and so touching. We have to thank our neighbor for giving us the tickets so we could enjoy this game.

Some may wait for weekends so they can rest. In our house that doesn't seem to be the plan. There is always something and last weekend was no different. Dentist appointments, birthday parties, football, homecoming, weddings and a concert were on the calendar for us.

Krystal cheered at her first football game. She looked so grown up and did such a great job. The girls did a kick line for every touch down the team got. Well Rampart won 36-12, the cheer leaders were definitely feeling the score. By the end of the game the parents were hoping the team wouldn't score again so the cheerleaders wouldn't pass out!
It was their homecoming game and what better way to celebrate then winning? Krystal was able to go to homecoming with some of her friends. She had to do a lot of negotiating to go but it all worked out and she had a great time. Not the best pictures because we were in a church but Parker and Jeni got married. Mike has been friends with Parker for a long time. They graduated HS together and have a lot of stories to tell about each other. We are very happy for Parker and glad he is so happy.
Since I am a big country fan and Mike actually likes Brad Paisley, when I heard he was coming to town I was so excited. For our anniversary we got tickets for the H20 tour. Justin Moore, Darius Rucker who is behind us in this picture and of course Brad. There were a whole lot of others there too. With all the other plans we didn't get to see everyone but sure had a good time. Brad is a great performer and we had wonderful seats. We are so glad September has come to rest. It was a wonderful and busy month. But the best part about it is our little Daniel that came to our family. Here's to hoping October gives us a little more rest!

  1. Just when Oct. might slow down for you, it's going to get busy for me. Birthdays, hunting and scouts. Hopefully Nov. will be a slow month for both of us:) love ya!

  2. So busy, but SO fun! Adam's been saying he'd love to do a South Dakota trip in the next couple of years, so now I have some things on my "to do" list when we go. Krystal looks great in her cheer uniform and for homecoming! And what fun dates, a wedding and a concert. FUN!

ROAD TRIP July 2009

Halloween 2009

Found an old picture of the kids in 2003. Thought it would be a fun way to see how much they've grown. Pretty soon I'll be lucky if they'll take a picture for me! 3 out of 5 pumpkins made it to the porch! David carved way too much and it sort of fell apart. (why it is on his head) Haley tripped on the front porch and the pumpkin flew to its end. While comforting Haley something happened to Reid's pumpkin and it ended up in 2 peices. We're just happy we got to carve pumpkins this year!
