Happy Valentines Day

We woke up early to make our kids pink heart shaped pancakes with bacon and eggs. The two little girls were so excited! The two older ones acted like it wasn't a big deal but we could tell they really liked it. Each of the kids had a chocolate heart to take to school.

For lunch I got a surprise visit from Mikey at work and we picked up my mom and Bella for lunch. She was so cute and loves her ranch dressing. When Uncle Mike had to leave back to work he kissed me goodbye. Bella said.....my mommy has a honey too, his name is daddy. It was very cute!

At dinner time we weren't really hungry so we decided to go to the movie and we watched The Vow. What a great love story and even better when you find out that it's a true story. We ordered the kids heart shaped pizza before we left to surprise them.  Wouldn't you know it.....the only one that noticed it was heart shaped was Laura.  I hope everyone had a wonderful valentines day!

HATS

Tuesday was New Beginnings for all three of our girls.  That is when the girls all speak about the different Young Women Values.  They also introduce the girls that will be entering the YW program within the next year.  Since Haley's birthday is technically next year but before the next New Beginnings program all three of the girls were there.  The theme for this year was, "hats".

It was such a cute idea and great the way the older girls picked a hat that represented the value they spoke about.  Krystal spoke on Good Works and so she picked a pioneer hat because of the work ethic of pioneer woman.  Laura spoke on Integrity and so she picked a cowboy hat since they have integrity.

Haley's hat I got to pick.  It was a hat to introduce her to the other girls and let them know something about her.  She got a chefs hat.  Haley loves to cook and help in the kitchen.  She really liked her hat and has even been wearing it while reading this week.  It was a wonderful night for everyone and we are so excited to have all our girls in the YW program!

Happy 11th Birthday Haley

Haley turned 11 years old on Tuesday and we're still in shock.  She has a big year in front of her.  Haley is in her final year of elementary school and her last year of primary at church.  Most of the time she and Laura are referred to as one of the "little girls".  This is not something she is fond of.  Being the youngest is not her favorite thing and being the only one in elementary school doesn't help.

On her birthday, Haley had the day off of school, got her room decorated and when we got home from work she was "decorated" too.  Krystal put make up on her, did her hair and put a happy birthday crown on her head.

Haley definitely loved the attention and feeling older.  Krystal asked if she was now allowed to wear make up to school and both dad and I said, NO.  We're hoping for at least a couple more years before that happens.

Overall it was a great birthday filled with horses:  she got a stuffed horse, two horse books, some clothes and a pink ipod. To finish the celebration she had an icecream cake (only after it was put in the freezer by mistake) an amazing chocolate cake.  I think she is still surprised by the ipod but very happy to be celebrating the first birthday of the year in our house!

 Happy Birthday, Haley......we love you!

Happy 18th Birthday David

David turned 18 on the 18th, his golden birthday.  He has been waiting for this day for a long time.  The thing he is most excited about is that he gets to vote during the next Presidential election.  It is hard for us to get him to smile, but this day it was hard for him to keep the smile off his face.
David's gifts included a laptop, Nike shirts, M&M's and
a leaf with a hand made card from Haley.
He was very surprised and appreciated everything, that made it even better!
This year David asked for an ice-cream cake.  I think this is the first time that one of the kids got to pick the kind of cake they wanted.  It was a yummy cake and we had so much fun.  He was able to enjoy dinner with two grandmas, the parents and his sisters.

Happy Birthday, David.....
we love you so much and are so excited for what the first year of adulthood has in store for you!

ROAD TRIP July 2009

Halloween 2009

Found an old picture of the kids in 2003. Thought it would be a fun way to see how much they've grown. Pretty soon I'll be lucky if they'll take a picture for me! 3 out of 5 pumpkins made it to the porch! David carved way too much and it sort of fell apart. (why it is on his head) Haley tripped on the front porch and the pumpkin flew to its end. While comforting Haley something happened to Reid's pumpkin and it ended up in 2 peices. We're just happy we got to carve pumpkins this year!
