Laura's a young woman

Laura's birthday is always around Memorial Day weekend. It is really hard to give her a birthday party with friends because most people are out of town. This year with the late holiday and better planning we had the party a weekend earlier. She had three friends come to her party and spend the night. It was very hectic that day. I took the day off for Haley's field trip and scheduled a doctors appointment for David. They both ran late then dad had to work late! By the time we got home it was 5 minutes before the party was suppose to begin. No pizza and a lot of frazzled nerves. I was thinking if only it this was next weekend David could go get the pizza's. Thankfully, it all worked out in the end. Pizza, Shrek forever after, then home for cake and ice cream.
Reid was at a scout camp out and David didn't want to see Shrek with dad and all the girls, so he went to the Y. This will have to do for my "traditional" everyone picture with cake and birthday person.
Today is Laura's official birthday and instead of another birthday cake she chose milkshakes for everyone. She got to choose where we went for dinner, we ended up at Drifters. (the closest thing we have found to In and Out here). Grandpa Daniel and I were there too, just not in the picture. Grandma Tam and everyone else posed for this picture. We call Laura our "sweet one". She is usually happy and doesn't ask for much. So instead of asking for crazy expensive stuff she asked for a lamp that holds stuff for the side of her bed. That was an easy order!
Laura did get her lamp, she also got some clothes and this snow cone maker with cups, flavors and straws. She has been asking for this for a couple of years. She got the cutest twister hopscotch game and was just happy having family there.

Now that Laura is 12 she will be able to get contacts. She also moving into Young Women's at church, she is officially a "beehive". Her teacher and the President of the class came over and brought her a bit-o-honey bar and flowers to welcome her to YW. The highlight of her day was that David got his license. She made him the cutest key chain in wood shop at school. It is a little wood piece with a cursive L and a rose. (not real manly) But she said she wants David to remember he got his drivers license on her birthday. After we got home from dinner David and Laura went out for a "ride". They ended up going to Walmart where she bought flip flops then off to Old Navy where she bought a top, all with her birthday money. What a lucky girl!

Laura truly is a sweet girl and for her young age is always thinking of others before herself. We are so proud of the beautiful young lady she is becoming. Happy Birthday, Loubert-we love you!

ROAD TRIP July 2009

Halloween 2009

Found an old picture of the kids in 2003. Thought it would be a fun way to see how much they've grown. Pretty soon I'll be lucky if they'll take a picture for me! 3 out of 5 pumpkins made it to the porch! David carved way too much and it sort of fell apart. (why it is on his head) Haley tripped on the front porch and the pumpkin flew to its end. While comforting Haley something happened to Reid's pumpkin and it ended up in 2 peices. We're just happy we got to carve pumpkins this year!
