Braces 101

We've had a very interesting couple of weeks. We have known for a while that braces were in order for all five kids. David has already finished his stint with braces. We tried to budget for braces payments and prioritize who goes first. Krystal being the obvious choice (so we thought) because she is a sophomore in high school. The two girls went in for a consult at the end of the year the orthodontist changed our minds. Krystal definitely needed to start immediately but we couldn't wait any longer for Laura. SWEET! As dad would say. So even though Laura started phase one about 4 years ago she gets to start all over again. Tuesday the 11th Krystal got her top braces on. She is the only child I've ever known to be so excited about getting tracks in her mouth. It didn't take long until she was feeling the "joy" of braces. That same day Laura got an impression and spacers. Well this week the "joy" really began for Laura. She got both the upper braces, lower braces and an expander. The expander is a device towards the roof of her mouth, we have to turn it a full turn each night. It isn't the high light of the day in our house. It is suppose to help her mouth widen so her teeth have room to come in.Soon both girls will be sporting gorgeous smiles and we'll be on to the next set of braces & payments!

  1. I hear you! I love the "joy" that quickly changes to "this stinks!" Zach gets his off on March 1st and we are BOTH counting down the days until he's done...that is until round 2 when he's 12. :(

ROAD TRIP July 2009

Halloween 2009

Found an old picture of the kids in 2003. Thought it would be a fun way to see how much they've grown. Pretty soon I'll be lucky if they'll take a picture for me! 3 out of 5 pumpkins made it to the porch! David carved way too much and it sort of fell apart. (why it is on his head) Haley tripped on the front porch and the pumpkin flew to its end. While comforting Haley something happened to Reid's pumpkin and it ended up in 2 peices. We're just happy we got to carve pumpkins this year!
