My Best Man

This weekend Mike was the best man at his friend Ted's wedding. We weren't sure if we would both be able to escape for the weekend but finally figured things out.Beside getting the kids and house prepared for us to be gone the interstate was closed and we were already running late on the trek to Ft. Collins. After some road changes and getting to the hotel we quickly changed and made it to the wedding 15 minutes before it was suppose to start.
Mike served in the Marines with Ted and they both have been with the same company for over 12 years, they have known each other for a long time. It was a backyard wedding in Ft. Collins and everything was perfect. The bride did a lot of the work herself and there were so many little details that made things so nice. Mike was so worried about me because I didn't know anyone and was so attentive. I told him to go tend to his "best man" duties but he was just perfect. Although Ted thought he was using Mike as his best man he truly ended up being mine.

The next morning we were able to wake up and go golfing. We haven't been real golfing yet this year. Just seems something always is more important then the time to golf. We both missed it so much and had a great time on a course that was way out of our league.
We finally told the guys we started to golf with to go ahead of us and they didn't have to wait. We had a lot more fun with just the two of us and even detoured off the course to find the balls we had hit wrong. I think that the sand was calling my name because every chance that I got my ball was in it.

Mike was robbed on this putt. It was a perfect shot and it just stopped right on the side of the hole. He had a wonderful boo boo lip on this one.

We've decided that we are leaving every weekend to get some quality time together. It was wonderful and although it is just a pipe dream to do it every weekend can't wait to do it again!

Krystal's problem

Saturday Krystal was talking to us after returning from a youth church trip. She was talking and talking and talking.
When she decided that asking to go shopping was a possibility she tried to walk away. She couldn't. Her knee was stuck! Mike and I were on the couch as she was pleading for help. Laura did come but she was laughing too.

She couldn't believe that we didn't come running up the stairs to her rescue. We were looking for a camera and laughing. We did try to give her advice on how to get her leg out, but it just didn't seem to work. After a little pulling and tugging from Laura her knee popped out. Krystal was concerned about me taking pictures with her having a dress on but think she was more worried about me blogging about it. It was just too funny not to!

BACK TO SCHOOL 2010

This summer has been a very long one for me. Although summer was one of my favorite seasons as a kid, as a parent it is fall! So glad that the kids are all officially back in school.

Every year since preschool I take a picture of the kids in front of their school. This year it was a little different.
Now that David is driving and is a junior in high school, he wasn't really looking forward to me following him to school after seminary just for a picture. You can see how early the pictures of David and Krystal are by how dark it is outside. It was before 6 am and for some reason still couldn't get them to agree for me to follow them to school for the picture!

Krystal is a sophomore and still so tiny. It is hard enough for me to believe that David will be out of school in less then 2 years. Then when I think of Krystal just one year behind him it just makes me want to cry.

Reid and Laura are both starting 7th grade this year. I love that they are in the same school and on the same team this year. Both are in band and had to carry their huge instruments to school today(they did get a ride). They're both always ready way before it is time to leave for school it is the highlight of their day.

Haley is our lone elementary school kid. She is starting 4th grade this year. It feels like she has so long before she'll be in high school or actually graduting. But with how fast it has been for everyone else we'll be looking back at these pictures wondering where the time has gone.

I am so excited that they are all back in school and think they were all a bit excited too. School is definitely something that gets us all back on a good routine and back to bed at a decent time. Thank Heavens for school!

Traveling to California

We were able to go out to Southern California last week. We usually drive out in one day but the last couple of times have taken 2 days traveling their and back. The kids are all wonderful travelers since they have all been doing it for years. Our first stop at a gas station we had to laugh. It was an older town and no one seemed to be there. When we stopped the kids ran to this stage coach. David then picked up the payphone asking what it was. Can we really be that old that kids do not know what a pay phone is? Haley isn't in the pictures because she stayed home with my parents this trip. We missed her but hoping that she'll be with us next trip to Cali.

We stopped in St. George after the first day and stayed the night. I love it there and would LOVE to move there. Unfortunately it isn't in the cards for us right now. After a short drive to Vegas we stopped and had to hit the Coca Cola store. We found a great little chalk board for the kitchen and it was the perfect piece to finish off the decorating. While dad went to the car to put our bags away the kids did the infamous wall sit against the coke wall. We were also able to find coconut M&M's at the M&M store. Even though not all the packages made it through the 115 degree heat. Our next stop was Hard Rock Cafe which is probably one of the best ones I've been in. They had great Elvis memorabilia which is probably why I like it so much. The kids loved the statues of KIZZ and the giant guitar out front.

On this trip my blackberry finally took it's final fall. Even though our phones do not work in Ojai it was awful for me. We did go get a phone in Ventura one day but it wasn't user friendly or you could say the user didn't like it. So it went back when we got home the phone went back.
Not only did the phone go to sleep but here are the kids after a good lunch and hoping to make the trip go faster. To me it looks like Reid got the wrong end of the deal.

With all the crazy positions they managed to keep their seat belts on.

This trip we had about 400 pictures so I'll have to pick and choose and put vacation on a couple different post. Because even I don't want to post all the pictures!

ROAD TRIP July 2009

Halloween 2009

Found an old picture of the kids in 2003. Thought it would be a fun way to see how much they've grown. Pretty soon I'll be lucky if they'll take a picture for me! 3 out of 5 pumpkins made it to the porch! David carved way too much and it sort of fell apart. (why it is on his head) Haley tripped on the front porch and the pumpkin flew to its end. While comforting Haley something happened to Reid's pumpkin and it ended up in 2 peices. We're just happy we got to carve pumpkins this year!
